Obama – the voice of the Joshua generation

This morning I felt impressed to check the news at CBN. Guess what I found.

Joshua Generation project will be launched by Barack Obama soon. It will target young Evangelicals and Catholics, groups which could potentially move toward his side, despite the dramatic differences on issues like abortion. This article on CBN news estimates that through this campaign he might get even 40% of Evangelicals votes!!!

On June 28th, 2006 Obama delivered speech in Washington D.C, titled “Call to renewal” about his personal journey to God and church, politics and religion and the discussion surrounding his controversial position on sensitive topics. If you are not familiar with it, it’s a must read. This speech was recognized by many as probably the most important speech on religion and politics in 40 years.

On March 7th, 2007 Obama gave a speech, commemorating Selma Voting Rights March. Very inspiring, spiritually connecting to all the Christian values, uplifting and invigorating all of your patriotic left over feelings that you did not even know you had. He used the story of Moses and Joshua as the background for his speech. Few quotes:

If you want to change the world, the change has to happen with you first and that is something that the greatest and most honorable of generations has taught us, but the final thing that I think the Moses generation teaches us is to remind ourselves that we do what we do because God is with us.

I’m here because somebody marched. I’m here because you all sacrificed for me. I stand on the shoulders of giants. I thank the Moses generation; but we’ve got to remember, now, that Joshua still had a job to do. As great as Moses was, despite all that he did, leading a people out of bondage, he didn’t cross over the river to see the Promised Land. God told him your job is done. You’ll see it. You’ll be at the mountain top and you can see what I’ve promised. What I’ve promised to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. You will see that I’ve fulfilled that promise but you won’t go there.

We’re going to leave it to the Joshua generation to make sure it happens. There are still battles that need to be fought; some rivers that need to be crossed. Like Moses, the task was passed on to those who might not have been as deserving, might not have been as courageous, find themselves in front of the risks that their parents and grandparents and great grandparents had taken. That doesn’t mean that they don’t still have a burden to shoulder, that they don’t have some responsibilities. The previous generation, the Moses generation, pointed the way. They took us 90% of the way there. We still got that 10% in order to cross over to the other side. So the question, I guess, that I have today is what’s called of us in this Joshua generation? What do we do in order to fulfill that legacy; to fulfill the obligations and the debt that we owe to those who allowed us to be here today?

I don’t blame him. What else can you do with that charm, magnetic personality, smooth vocabulary transporting us to the world of our dreams. Is there anyone else who can preach better and awaken America? Is there anyone else who can voice out our desires? Is there anyone?

Personally, I like the guy. I think he is extremely intelligent, has magnificent charisma surrounding his person every time he appears. Media love him, so the crowd, he know how to inspire, unite and fuel people up, even if his direction is not clear enough and lacks concretes.

I believe he is sincere and truly believes in the ideas he proclaims to stand for, if he’ll become the next president. Undoubtedly, he is the best preacher for this season, and his faithful come from all backgrounds, feeling that his cause is bigger than ever and has the chance for real change. He has become the voice of the next generation, promoted by no one else but the people.

He has become an icon for something fresh and new, even if we don’t know exactly how it will shape our future. He has taken USA by storm, and he is intending to convince the last bastion of doubtful, that he can represent them. And most of people intuitively trust him.

I like a lot of his ideas. I would probably vote for him, if not for this one issue:

Supports a Woman’s Right to Choose:

Barack Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women’s rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision in that case.

Wake up, people. We need to pray that his heart will change or that someone else will become the Chief.

One nation under Obama explains it all. And below one of Obama’s quotes:

Update on Joshua Generation, June 11th from here

The program is the tip of an intensive, months-long outreach effort by the campaign. On Tuesday, in advance of its debut, Obama met privately in Chicago, Illinois, with about 30 evangelical, Protestant and Catholic leaders. They included Bishop T.D. Jakes, the megachurch minister, and Douglas Kmiec, an influential law professor who opposes abortion rights.

  1. “I would probably vote for him, if not for this one issue:”

Goes to show he’s wasting his time …

  2. i’m christian, and i’m anti abortion, but i’m focusing on the larger issues at hand….the people getting injured and killed in this horrible war…the fact that we’re in a recession…the fact that 40 million people go to bed hungry at night in this country…the fact that gas costs over 4 dollars a gallon….immigration reform….and the need for change….

all of those outweigh the fact that he’s pro-life. we can’t focus on the battle over life until we get our immediate detriments out of the way. don’t let one issue stop you from saving our country. once our country is back to normal, then we can focus on issues such as abortion

  3. Serena,
    thanks for visiting.
Simply saying, you would allow to kill human beings, so you can have more comfortable life?
I know, it sound blunt, but isn’t it the truth?

  4. Abortion isn’t the only issue I vote on. When I way the pros and cons Obama wins my vote. No candidate is perfect (read sin-free) because no human is sin-free. If we wait around for that candidate nothinig gets done.

  5. Stefanie,
I agree, “the perfect” candidate will never show up. But I simply can’t put my conscious mind into voting for someone who will continue to make legislations in order to kill in the name of convenience… God’s law (thankfully, written in my heart, at least in the case of life and death), in this case, stands above anything else.
I guess I would like to appeal to all of the Christians to re-examine their position, because of this one fact, which Mr. Obama advocates and will stand for as a president. He will be for abortion, as his record shows.
    Thanks for visiting.

  6. I think that no judgmental man nor self-righteous woman can tell any woman to do with her body. She is the one who has to live with the consequences for 9 months to 18+ years. I believe God created mankind with a free will and no one, group, party or government can rightfully control what a woman does with her reproductive body. Often times, many people do not put themselves in other people’s shoes and therefore cannot empathize, but only pass judgment. I love mankind, children, and especially babies, but what is right for one person may not be best for the next. Everyone’s situation, circumstance, frame of mind, financial, emotional, and mental stability is different. I do believe every measure should be taken and things be well thought out and planned, before making a final decision as this is an important and very major irreversible decision. Therefore I think every option should be considered and available to make the best decision. Often times women make rash or undesierable decisions in fear of even more criticism, judgment, condemnation than if the more private choice was made. There are so many unwanted children in this nation and wolrd that are full of hate and deprived of the love and care, finances, resources they need and end up becoming a detriment to themselves and society as well as people and government not wanting to assist, or aid these children and their single or dual parents in developing a healthy happy productive citizen.. If Roe vs. Wade was not in existence, we would have an even more astounding number of births and illegal and dangerous pregnancy terminations. I knew of a young woman who became pregnant at an early age didn’t know she was pregnant until she was several months. Because the young woman was not in a position to care for a child nor had the support from family or the man that got her pregnant, she ended up leaving townto an illegal clinic that terminated the pregnancy. The young woman ended up in a coma and then dying. Those are the type things that happen when condemnation and no viable options are available.

  7. infinity,
    thanks for visiting…

“Often times, many people do not put themselves in other people’s shoes and therefore cannot empathize, but only pass judgment.”

Of course, empathy is important, non-negotiable even for Christians following Christ’s Sermon on the Mount principles, but empathy grounded on false doctrine or statement, is nothing else, but tears for…what? killing some human beings, so it will make others feel better?
The question is, should Christians be quiet and passive, when the laws in their country are opposing the commandments given by God whom they serve? What comes first? Should we be silenced by this humanistic empathy which allowed to kill over 40 million babies during the last 30 years in USA? Should we, as a church, stand for the truth, and allow these lives to be born, and provide opportunities for those who are contemplating killing of the unborn, to have a place of comfort? (crisis pregnancy centers, houses for single mothers, adoption centers).

Condemnation goes toward ideology, not the people (women) who are in these situations. We are becoming a nation, in which even talking about life values, are no longer welcomed, because it is not convenient to those who are around. We are becoming a nation of hedonists, who are seeking the best insurance and educational plan, but at the same time, killing the speechless, in the name of convenience.

  8. Great post Iwka:-) It’s sad to see a talented and charismatic man like Obama, who does claim to be a Christian (this, however, is not always synonymous with being a follower of Jesus), to support abortion… McCain seems to be somewhat pretentious, though, and his campaign populist… – we, obviously, have to rely solely on the media representation of the man… What kind of a person is he really? Is he a committed follower of Jesus Christ?
    Greetings from the UK 🙂

  9. The majority of American Pro-life “Christians” are Hypocrites!
In 8 years Republicans have not changed a single law on abortion. But at every election, they use the one vote issue “pro-life” as bait to get themselves elected and guess what? It works every time!!! American conservatives are unable to question anything. They just believe what they are told. Therefore, Republican politicians take advantage of their ignorance and play with their minds. Please tell me what George W Bush has done in 8 years about abortion? –VOID–!!! How stupid people can be? How is it Pro-life to kill innocent people worldwide like American soldiers have been ordered to do for years? How pro-life is it to not take care of those babies who were born (health care for instance)? How pro-life is to not help those who are hurting and hungry? How pro-life is to be racist and deny other humans their basic rights? Some Americans are crazy!!! Pro-Life? I don’t think so!!!

  10. I agree with the comment posted by Only In America. Those who support Palin based on her pro-life belief are hypocrites. The Bible says to bless your enemies but you don’t. The Bible says to feed the hungry–you don’t and you despise the poor (like laughing at community organizers). The Bible says to love others–you don’t, you spend your time spreading smears. I could go on and on. The bottom line is that those so called “pro-life Christians” think they are better than others. They think they are perfect, forgetting that only God is perfect. The Bible is against fornication but you believe is OK for Bristol Palin to have sex outside marriage as long as she keeps the baby. How hypocritical? So basically, you don’t obey half of the Bible but you think you are worth more than others just because you are against abortion? Who are you kidding? I hope those brainwashed youngsters learn to think by themselves and analyse things rather than repeating whatever they are told and accuse Obama of murder. Whoever posted this article is ill informed and it shows that he/she is just repeating stuffs he/she heard as opposed to conducting proper research and analysing facts! As far as christianity is concerned, I suggest that you read the Bible. Believe me, being a Christian is much more than being an unforgiving, unmerciful and judgemental “pro-life” person!

  11. Evangelicals are HYPOCRITS..PRO LIFE AND PRO WAR makes no sense at all. You want to keep “breeding” for this 100 year WAR McSHAME/McSAME has plotted.. very uneducated people, plagued with RACISM. I cannot CHANGE your minds….Pro Life and PRO WAR???? I am no FOOL but you certainly are showing how ignorant & racist you are. Let me clarify:

    * If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different.”
    * Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.
    * If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
    * Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.
    * Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
    * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well grounded.
    * If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you don’t have any real leadership experience.
    * If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you’re qualified to become the country’s second highest ranking executive.
    * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re not a real Christian.
    * If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, and have NEVER BEEN BAPTISED, you’re a Christian.
    * If you teach children about sexual predators, you are irresponsible and eroding the fiber of society.
    * If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state’s school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re very responsible.
    * If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values don’t represent America ‘s.
    * If you’re husband is nicknamed “First Dude”, with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn’t register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that hates America and advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.
    OK, much clearer now.

  12. I SAID IT BEFORE, AND I SHALL SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR: YOU ARE JUST RACISTS BIGOTS!!!

Poll: Racial views steer some white Dems away from Obama
By RON FOURNIER and TREVOR TOMPSON, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them “lazy,” “violent,” responsible for their own troubles.

The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 — about two and one-half percentage points.

Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He’s an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation’s oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can’t win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.

Such numbers are a harsh dose of reality in a campaign for the history books. Obama, the first black candidate with a serious shot at the presidency, accepted the Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, a seminal moment for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.

“There are a lot fewer bigots than there were 50 years ago, but that doesn’t mean there’s only a few bigots,” said Stanford political scientist Paul Sniderman who helped analyze the exhaustive survey.

  13. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DOUBT THAT SOME AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE CRAZY OR LET’S SAY…LITERALLY CRAZY…JUST WATCH THIS VIDEO: THESE PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE GOD’S SEND! GOD HAS NEVER ASKED ANYONE TO HARASS OTHERS BY THE WAY!

  14. AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE:

Here’s the truth about Barack Obama and the bill (the infanticide bill):

    * At the time Barack voted against a bill containing language designed to protect infants who were “born alive,” such protection was already on the books as Illinois state law.[1]
    * The accusations against Barack are so reckless that not even the Republican state senator who sponsored the bill will support them. In fact, he freely admits that “None of those who voted against SB-1082 favored infanticide.”[2]
    * The bill was opposed by many legislators and groups like the Illinois Medical Society because of the unintended impact it would have had on other laws and legal precedents in Illinois.[3]
    * Barack is on the record[3] saying that he would have supported a similar bill that came up in Congress — but that didn’t pose a threat to a woman’s right to choose the way the Illinois bill did.[4]

  15. I am a Christian Supporter of Senator Obama. I read your smears and self-righteous post. Please answer me one question: why is it that the Republican party only talks about abortion and of course gay marriage, during election season? After November 5th those issues disappear and then the party of morals resorts into their usual policies. You know social Darwinism, “the survival of the fittest/richest”. Why is it that you on the religious right have the nerve to say Barack Obama has no morals ,yet you see no problem with John McCain leaving his disabled wife for Cindy Mccain. Barack is a family man. He has both of his children in wedlock with one woman. Who gave you the right to sit on high and judge him.Romans 14 speaks of the dangers of condemning other believers. Rom 14:10) So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 12) Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other.

On another point, I completely understand and respect the views of those that are pro-life and so does Sen. Obama, to that point. This is the deal, Lets say McCain-Palin win. Do you realize they will have a majority Democrat congress to deal with? They will not be able to confirm ultra conservative judges even if they wanted to. Furthermore, there is nothing in John McCain’s past votes, as far as judges are concerned, that has proven he would appoint ultra conservative judges. I personally think that because of McCain’s vindictive nature, which has been well documented, he will probably turn on conservatives once he’s elected. Face it, conservatives has been really nasty to him over the years. He has flip-flopped on everything thing else. Why wouldn’t he screw you guys once he doesn’t need your votes anymore? I wouldn’t blame him. Think about this for a minute, you guys have been pawns for the Republican party for years. They only care about your issues every 4 years. You’ve had a pro-life president for 8 years, to no avail. This culture war stuff is a tired waste of time. Face it, this country is going to change whether you like it or not. Young people are voting for Obama 3-1 over McCain. You know what that means? These kids will grow up democrats. There will be so few conservatives that you all will become irrelevant. Face it, you all did it to yourselves with your intolerance. Young people have seen the “Right” get into politics and have been turned away from you all. Unfortunately, as a whole, more people are turning away from religion in this country, because of how the right has behaved. The negativity and self-righteousness , the my way or the highway attitude, and if you don’t think the way I do, you are my enemy! People are tired of that. There are more issues Christians should be concerned about like the poor and the sick. I’m not saying God likes it when babies are being killed. I’m just saying no where in my interpretation of the Bible have I gathered it to be our life’s mission as Christians, to stop abortions. There’s not a verse that even says it emphatically. When I find a verse that says we can’t be pro-choice and Christian or vote for some one pro-choice even if we are pro-life, I will let you know. Meanwhile, I am sticking with Barack Obama. You know, the guy that really has family values and has used his entire adult life to help the least of these. Have a nice day!

  16. We can’t ignore right and wrong while “waiting for our nation to get back on track”. God will not bless us if we live in disobedience. Not only is Obama for abortion but I also saw a clip where he said kindergarten students should be taught sex education. Check out Abort 73 . com and you will quickly get a better understanding of just how much killing is and has been going on with abortion – take that and compare it to the war. We must honor life it is not our choice to remove it or take it away.

  17. the comment below was edited by the owner of the site
Shut …up about Obama being pro choice already! He supports freedom of choice and that includes your …. asses to sit here and talk shit. Abortion will always be legal, get …over it you stupid pro life …. Haven’t you people heard of Roe vs. Wade? Boy I’m so glad that I got the abortion that I had to have because If It was up to you …Pro Life MORONS I would have died along with my severely genetically deformed baby. Abortion can be a life saving procedure, quit acting like everybody that has an abortion is a perpetual baby killer. Shit happens and if it comes down to a woman who has a significant life compared to a ball of cells then the woman is going to win. And Laura shut your …stupid Pro Life God Fearing ass up. As for the rest of you take your Pro Life God Fearing bullshit …! God you people are stupid.

  18. I respect your right to say as you please; pity you cannot express your opinions without tearing others down. I am sincerely sorry you had to go through the loss you experienced. I too have lost children and was hurt and angry for a time. However, I am also of the opinion that the factual circumstances that would require a termination of pregnancy are extremely rare(this is not saying you were not one of those rare cases). My Great Grandfather was an old country doctor that delivered thousands of babies and never lost a mother. That was without our modern medical facilities and equipment. Today we have ultrasounds and C-sections among other things that further aid in the mothers survival. The argument of abortion being used to save the mother just does not hold water with me logically. Abortion is used far more today out of fear or convenience. If my opinion offends you, that is up to you. I have the freedom of speech just as you do. From there you can take it or leave it for what it is worth. But I will voice it as long as I have breath in me.

  19. destroying an adult life to preserve a nascent embryo is typical of the ignorance and control that religion wishes to impose on the individual. You have no right to judge or even guess at what the judgment of God, religion is the true destroyer of life, you try to sell to insecure people death in life and life in death, religion conceived the term contemptus mundi, contempt for the world. You are ‘pro life’ yet are willing to murder doctors who terminate embryos, and want women to run their lives according to faith which is nothing more than socially normalised ignorance and an enemy of education, truth, and science. You hate the world yet you want to control everybody according to your intolerant sexist, homophobic, mysoginist strictures that stop the progress of humanity in its tracks. You profess the love of christ, yet you have are the haters that hate every individual that questions your beliefs or has the slightest deviation from your orthodoxy. I believe in God but I believe God abhors what religion has done and is doing in Gods name, if God speaks directly to our hearts he has told me religion ought to be abolished from this world for the betterment of humanity. Religion is a blasphemer of life and the world, how can people live with the homogenising individually destroying tendency of organised institutional religion. Your evangelists are all perverts, all your priests are sexual deviants, your sacred book is sacred for the instituional rationale that it will stop new ideas destroying your institution. The victim is the vitality and variety of life. You live in the past where life is over and finished, the future is your enemy because that is where life is to be found and there is no place for religion where life is to find its full expression. Religion pro-life? Don’t make me laugh!

  20. More people have died in the last millenium in the name of religion than ever have been or ever will be aborted. Religion is the number one killer of children, women and men; near all wars are fought in the name of God usually by both sides. The only way to save them is to outlaw relgion. Gods will is to stop the religious wars, and the only way to stop that is to abolish organised religion and replace it with the philosophy of God speaking through the individuals heart and mind, no more priest preachers, sacred books, religious rites, or institutions.

  21. Do Not Miss The Hand Of God Today and Tomorrow (Written 1/19/09)

Today is the day we as a nation celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday. Dr. King was born on January 15, but it is today January 19 in the year of 2009 that we celebrate Dr. King’s Birthday.

Today is a day of prayer. Today is a day of reflection. Today is a day of celebration. Today is a day of action. However, in all our prayers, reflections, celebrations and actions let us not miss the hand of God in this time of our nation’s history.

Dr. King was a young preacher who had a calling from God on his life.

Dr. King was a priest. He ministered to our soul. He marched against segregation. He was jailed to free us from racial discrimination. He was a drum major for justice. However, most of all, Dr. King was a prophet. In Washington, DC, he said, “I have a dream.” He said, “Let freedom ring.” He said, “One day his four children will be judged not by the color of their skins but by the content of their character.” In Memphis, TN, he said, “I’ve been to the mountaintop.” He said, “I’ve seen the promise land.” He said, “I may not get there with you but we as a people will get to the promise land.” He said, “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.”

Dr. King was the Moses of his generation!

Just like the Moses in the Bible, God sent Dr. King to say a word to Old Pharaoh. He told the old Pharaohs of the Old South, people like Bill Connors, George Wallace and Lester Maddox, to Let My People Go! Dr. King led the Exodus out of the Egypt of America. The Red Sea parted and Blacks got their Civil Rights and Voting Rights. The song says, “Go down Moses, way down in Egypt land. Tell old Pharaoh to let my people go!”

After being set free, just like the Children of Israel, we as Black people went into the Wilderness for 40 years. Dr. King was assassinated and we had to bury this mountain of a man. Unlike the Moses in the Bible who led his people for 40 years in the Wilderness, Dr. King was gone. However, the prophecy of God had gone forth. For 40 years, we suffered. Richard Nixon implemented law and order but it brought forth contempt for the law and a reduction of order. Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon but had no vision for the people. Jimmy Carter tried to do the right thing but did not stand firm for the right. Ronald Reagan said he wanted America to be a thousand points of light with a trickle down theory for the economy but he put the light out on civil rights, employment rights and human rights, and nothing trickled down to the people but despair and the slogan of “Just say no” to drugs. George H. W. Bush said read my lips “No new taxes” but made sure that those who were taxed the most were at the bottom of the barrel with their lips pouting out. Bill Clinton brought some hope to America as morning came to America through the man from Hope, AK but his human failings and his conservative moorings limited his work for the people. George W. Bush came in on a dark cloud having not won the election, 911 occurred as he failed to see the warnings, he created a war in Iraq looking for non-existing weapons of mass destruction, over 5000 of our children have died in the war for no good reason, and our economy is in the worst shape since the Great Depression. We were in the Wilderness!

Now some 40 years later, God has sent another man to take us into the promise land. His name is President Barack Hussein Obama.

President Obama is a young politician who has a calling from God on his life.

President Obama is a lawyer. He is a professor. He is a community activist. However, most of all President Obama is a warrior. He said, “He’s fired up and ready to go.” He said, “Yes we can.” He said, “We as a people will get to the promise land.” He is ready to take his people and America to the promise land. President Obama is the warrior who will lead us all into the promise land. He said he is of the Joshua Generation.

President Obama is the Joshua of his generation to our people and our nation!

Just like the Joshua in the Bible, God is sending President Obama to take the land of milk and honey. For Joshua in the Bible, the battle began at the walled city of Jericho. Jericho is in the middle of Canaan Land. Washington, DC is in the middle between the Northeastern and the Southeastern states of America. Joshua first major victory occurs in Jericho as the walls came tumbling down. President Obama’s first major victory will occur in Washington, DC as the walls will come tumbling down. However, just like the Joshua in the Bible, President Obama will face obstacles. Joshua in the Bible was defeated in the battle at the little city of Ai. This occurred because Joshua underestimated the battle at Ai and his followers stole things in Ai that God said was only for God’s use. In addition, Joshua in the Bible made a mistake when he unknowingly cut a treaty with his enemies. This occurred because Joshua did not spy out the land completely to know who his enemies in Canaan Land were and who his friends beyond Canaan Land were. However, Joshua in the Bible had more victories than defeats and he conquered Canaan Land.

Just like Joshua in the Bible, President Obama will have his share of defeats, mistakes and missteps but in the end, he will be victorious. God is telling President Obama to be strong and of a good courage. He will have more victories than defeats and he will conquer this Canaan Land of America. The song says, “Joshua fit the battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down.”

In the end, we as a people will find out that it was never our Moses, Dr. King, or our Joshua, President Obama, who really brought us out of the land of Egypt in America or put us in the Promise Land in America. In the end, we as a people will learn that it was always the Captain of the Lord’s Host (Army) working through we the people who will put us in the Promise Land. The Captain of the Lord’s Army will lead us into the promise land because the Captain of the Lord’s Army is none other than Joshua the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. His Jewish name is Yeshua ha Masheah. His Greek name is Iesus Christos. His English name is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ will win the war to take the Promise Land and we as a people will fight the good fight of faith and win the battles in the Promise Land.

So do not miss the hand of God at work right now!

Today, January 19, 2009, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Moses to America. Tomorrow, January 20, 2009, we honor President Barak Hussein Obama, the Joshua to America. Dr. King and President Obama are linked back to back.

God is making it crystal clear that he is linking the leadership of the Moses to America back to back with the leadership of the Joshua to America just like the book of Deuteronomy is linked back to back to the book of Joshua. Make no mistake, “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.”

    Deuteronomy and Joshua states:

Deuteronomy 34:1-8 (Moses goes to the mountaintop to die – Dr. King)
1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

2 And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

3 And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

4 And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

Deuteronomy 34:9 (God’s hand is on Joshua – President Obama)
9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Joshua 1:1-8 (God encourages Joshua – President Obama – to be strong and of a good courage)
1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua 5 (The Captain of the LORD’s Host – Jesus Christ – is the true leader of Joshua and the Children of Israel –President Obama and We as a People)
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?

15 And the captain of the LORD’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

God’s hand is directing the transfer of the anointing from Dr. King to President Obama. This is a handoff of glory, honor and power to let the world know that God is in control.

Just as the prophet of God said in 1968 and the warrior of God has repeated in 2008, “WE AS A PEOPLE WILL GET TO THE PROMISE LAND!

  22. Going on 7 years later now…. Haven’t you all come up with a long list of reasons for which you should have opposed Obama?
