Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Tit 2:14
Trying to live the Sermon on the Mount on our own strength is impossible. That’s why Jesus came to show us the way and died to enable us to live that peculiar way. It’s possible to have His life within our hearts and follow continually the path of the Lamb.
I don’t want to be in a place where there is “no profit in praying to God” (Hi 21:14-15), because I am not paying attention to that peculiar way of life, laid out in the Sermon on the Mount.
